Resting for Senior Women

Menopause is a privilege, not a disease. It is a gateway, not merely a set of symptoms. Our bodies are demanding more attention, more care, more kindness. I can help you be a marvellous menopausal woman that dances and speaks out and claps her hands for joy.

New Moves classes and consultations are safe. My women-only movement classes discuss and address menopause and ageing openly. While personalised and affordable private consultations can refine a unique program for you, with a customised admixture of counselling, movement, meditation, exercise, diet, supplementation and social outings.

  • How can we make ageing and menopause easier, softer and more informed?
  • How can we use the demands of the ageing body as a portal to increased awareness and efficient fitness?
  • How can we bring joy into the ageing process?

Menopause can be difficult, physically, intellectually and emotionally but with an emphasis on the silly side of life, on dance, on laughing (even when we don’t feel like it) we can wear ageing more lightly. Meanwhile I will be cracking bad jokes.

Modern science has proven beyond doubt that creative, sociable and pleasurable activities such as dance offer more health benefits than repetitive and arduous exercise regimes. In the group classes, weather online or in person, we aim to produce good brain chemicals by balancing effort and fun.

New Moves dance for menopause classes also take into account

  • the heating and cooling patterns of a menopausal body
  • the changes to hormonal levels
  • the lower energy levels of the ageing and menopausal body

Your Core

First, we find out exactly what we mean by ‘core’ and locate it precisely in the body.

We strengthen these particular muscle groups the ‘core’ with gentle exercises that not only ground our centre, but prevent prolapse, incontinence and lower back pain.

Your Bones

We address ageing bones, encouraging them to grow (they can you know!) through a mixture of bone density movements. Again, modern science has hailed dance as one of the best way to stimulate bone growth.

Incidental and everyday ‘exercise’

Throughout your day, as we walk, bend and reach, you can make your body stronger, I will provide you with clear information about the anatomy of your body, enhancing self-sufficiency.

New Moves acknowledges the whole woman and the whole life, so I provide technical advice on

  • Sitting
  • Standing
  • Walking
  • Climbing
