Rediscover Joy: Embrace transformative dance for mature women, turning each step into a celebration of life.

Each week this warm and welcoming group of mature women will dance their way to happiness and health through a stimulating variety of music and movement. Feel the freedom of moving and celebrate what the ageing body can do!

Anatomy & Movement: Learn the intricacies of your body’s anatomy as you move, enriching your dance and well-being journey.

Dr Pauline Manley has a PhD in mind-body connection and has spent decades teaching at tertiary level. She now offers these exclusive classes to mature women.

Dance is Timeless: Age evolves us, and at New Move Wellness, you’re free to enjoy dance’s liberating power. As well as choreography we dive into free and improvised dance where you can be creative and individual. This also means moving at your own pace, while quickening our right brain into divergent thinking, making decisions in the moment and finding new ways of moving and being. You can know yourself as never before.

Community & Freedom: A community gathering that celebrates age with laughter and learning, all underpinned by the joy of dance.

New Moves for Older Bodies is more than just a class. It is about warmth, welcome and the wisdom we can share with each other. It is about having time for a chat or a laugh, that is why we have 75 minute classes, to have the time to interact, maximising the vital  psycho-social benefits. We go for a cuppa or lunch after the class at a local café that provides us with a special deal.  We also arrange outings to events that interest us.

“We can continue to learn about ourselves throughout life, actually increasing physical agency as we age. While my classes are joyous and free they are underpinned with science, ancient wisdoms and extensive research.”

For example, we learn where, exactly, the core is and how to use it most effectively.

Or how to strengthen balance by learning about the various bodily systems that maintain confident movement.

Or how to keep upright and open posture  to avoid kyphosis (humping) in the upper body … and so on….”

Pauline

Pauline is a dancer, healer, mentor, guru. She is an experienced dancer, choreographer, and has a PhD in dance theory. Each class is evidentially, consciously, conscientiously prepared with any or all of these segments: brief discussion of theme of the class (eg ‘rhythm’, ‘spine’ etc) often explaining through a look at the anatomy of the body; warm up; movement to theme; dance; learning steps (brain power!); cool down; meditation; oh, and lots of laughing and joy and learning and beautiful music. The classes are very important to me. If I miss a class, I feel the gap/loss in the week. I highly, highly recommend Pauline’s classes. Apart from any other health benefits, I believe I could now dance anywhere at any time!

Moya 2024

“This is not only a wonderful way to get some exercise at my own pace, I also learn a lot – about music, dance, bodies, even what is going on in Sydney! I love the atmosphere, sharing with other women in this comfortable space.”

Gaynor 2022

“I develop a warm relationship with the women with which I dance. Moving together creates a kind of intimacy.”
